It is good to have a goal with your writing. Sometimes, I feel like a dog chasing my tail in circles. Brainstorming, drafting, re-writing, and editing my work until perfection. It’s fine to write and create, but let’s not forget the importance of publishing. This month’s blog contains my random weekly searches: the good, the bad and the hopeful of finding a publisher for The Ghosts’ Messenger.

Dutton Books, I found this update on their web page for new authors:
Penguin does not accept unsolicited submissions, proposals, manuscripts, illustrations, artwork, or submission queries at this time. This includes submission of work previously published elsewhere. We are also unable to provide draft support, translation or ghostwriters for aspiring authors.
Sucks.

Usborne children’s books:
If you have not already done so, you may find it useful to look for prospective publishers or literary agents (who can approach suitable publishers on your behalf) in The Children’s Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook. This book contains specific details on all UK children’s publishers, as well as other useful information and articles. It is published annually by A&C Black and can be ordered at www.amazon.co.uk. There is also lots of useful information on the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook website at
www.writersandartists.co.uk

OH NO! Not you as well. Ok, but they do have useful links for writers.

Roaring Brook Press was an unsolvable puzzle But I did find this contact email to see if they are accepting or confirm their submission guidelines. If anybody has better information, please let me know.

Milkweed editions

Milkweed Editions is happy to accept unsolicited manuscripts from authors of all backgrounds (previously published or not), and our editorial staff reviews each submission. In return, we ask that you familiarize yourself with our publishing list in order to determine if your manuscript is a good fit for our press. Submissions that do not initially meet the guidelines below will not be considered. Please note that we do not accept manuscripts that have been previously self-published.

Yeah! Great news. They accept electronic submissions. Okay, let’s check out their catalogue. They have stories about ghosts! We are in. They are not accepting submissions at this time, but they are still on the list! Yeah me!
